Many clans or gaming enthusiasts working to get a game server popular run into a problem: they don’t have enough admins. Though admins may not be necessary all the time, any game server of decent size will need one around. The admins you have on your game server will be crucial to its continuing success.

Though your friends who play on your game server may not cause trouble, other players who come along might. Trouble makers need to be dealt with smoothly and quickly if you plan on keeping your server’s popularity. It can take months to build up a game server’s status in the gaming world, but a trouble maker or cheater can clear out a server by simply annoying everyone else. No one likes playing with cheaters or annoying whiners, and players won’t hesitate to find another server to frag on for the evening if someone else is ruining their game.

You should have enough admins in your gaming clan so that at least one is at all times, or at least during the server’s busiest hours. If you can’t get enough admins, you can give players a way of contacting you if a player is causing havoc. Posting your email or AIM in a scrolling message in a scrolling message on the server is one good way. Another is getting a few trusted gamers on your server to keep watch for and inform you if any problems crop up.

Though you may have plenty of admins in your gaming clan, are they good? Most admins out there do a great job, but there are always a few bad apples who abuse their power. Worse than an abusive player is an abusive admin. Admins who kick players better than them, insult new players, or ban for minor offenses will make your game server’s players leave in a flash. Do your fellow players a favor and keep a watch on your admins. Have an email or website set up where people can ask questions about your server’s rules or report admin abuse. Occasionally pop in your server using an anonymous name and see how your admins act. The point is, don’t trust your game server admins blindly. Power can bring out the worst in people sometimes.

Without a strong admin base, your gaming server will not last. Every server on decent size needs a group of trustworthy admins who are always on call to deal with cheaters or otherwise irksome players. What is also important, however, is that these server admins be trustworthy and fair. No game server can last long without proper adminning.

A study conducted in the U.K. found that primary school children improve their math scores and concentration levels by playing online educational games, according to an article released in the BBC last month. Thirty primary school children between the ages of nine and ten, played a game called “Dr. Kawashima’s More Brain Training” game every morning for about 15 minutes before their lessons started. The game consists of several mini-games including reading tests, number challenges, memory puzzles and problem-solving exercises. At the end of the study, the children were tested in math and the results compared to a control group. Children who had played the games increased their test scores by more points than those who did not play, even though the test scores for both groups increased.

So what does this mean? With educational games popping up by various manufacturers all over the world, a trend is emerging. Combining a child’s “play” time with education, seems to have positive results. Making learning fun-as in part of a game-increases a child’s desire to learn. The repetition of playing is more enjoyable than simply working math problems over and over and the concentration needed, as well as the child’s own competitive desire to beat the game, adds to the beneficial outcome.

So is it time to buy a computer for your kid? Possibly.

Setting up a computer desk and computer in your child’s room or play room may help. Give your child his/her own space with a computer desk at the proper height for comfort. We found fully customizable computer desks at excellent prices on Versatables’ website.

A computer just for your child can also be the way to go. Giving him/her his own computer allows you, as a parent, to lock off inappropriate features like internet websites and pop-ups, and download fun games and colorful desktops and screen savers.

Customize your child’s computer work area with fun mouse pads or a mouse (Target sells a Hello Kitty mouse for under $10). Versatables’ computer desks can also be customized with shelves, speaker platforms, and locking CPU holders and cable management systems that provide a safer environment for children.

Stickers can be used to decorate the outside of the monitor and the keyboard, or use the computer and desk to create a themed room. For example, an aquatic themed room would look great with a fishbowl screensaver, or a princess-themed room could have a photo slide show of Disney’s princess characters.

When picking computer games, be sure to do your research. Many have been tested and are endorsed by schools and learning centers. Keep in mind, anyone can put out educational software, and just because it says it’s educational, doesn’t mean your child will learn from it. Choose games that are age-appropriate and that your child enjoys playing. Give your child time to play before studying, as increased blood flow to the frontal cortex (which happens during game play) can increase memory and concentration for hours afterward, making them ripe for learning.

While much of what you hear about computers and kids is negative press, keep in mind that computers allow us to do much more than we could without them and with proper parental control, they can be key in giving your child the educational edge.

Being on the internet and running your business often means that you need a reliable and solid web hosting provider for all of your electronic needs. Worrying about the state and integrity of your business website should be the last thing on your mind as you go about your daily business, and the micro management of such issues should be left to those who provided the web hosting in the first place. There are plenty of web hosting providers for you to choose from, should you decide to launch your commercial enterprise on the internet.

Taking advantage of the cheap virtual real estate to extend the marketability and exposure of your business should be on the minds of every business person out there. It is the point of contact, a representation of your business and an opportunity to take advantage of the business end of e-selling. With these things in mind, you need to look for a reliable web hosting provider and to do so; you need to look out for certain qualities. This article will discuss about these factors, and how you can differentiate from a quality service provider to one that doesn’t have your business in mind. One of the most important features to look out for is a web hosting provider that already has a sort of established reputation and is well known on the online and business community for providing quality and competitive service. They also have to be experts in aspects of web design, not only on the carrier model but as well as the ergonomics of the website – like promoting easy navigation, readability and the ability to direct the online consumer to exactly where they want to go.

They should also be able to cater to your business needs, which mean that their packages should have every permutation in mind, from the small business ventures, to the large corporate demands and to every type of product and service. Customisability is a very important determinant when looking at a web hosting provider, so ensure that their design and construction, as well as their implementation phase is not bound by company bureaucracy nor is it too rigid that your input cannot be inserted whenever necessary. They should also be able to work within your time frames and within a budget that has been specified by you. They should also be experts on the online business platform, which as you know, is an arena that is totally different from offline business needs.

For business needs you need to be able to gather information, which means an un restricted data transfer policy as well as enough bandwidth to hold the necessary information on your business. Look out for things like email hosting and unlimited domains as part of the package and it would be great is the service provider could provide you a dedicated team – not only an art director and web site programmer, but a team of individuals to advise you and give you support when you need it. These are some of the things to look out for when looking for a good web hosting provider and with this advice, you should be able to launch your business to the online community in no time at all.
